In 2018, Ritchie Clarke had a first-class degree, a well-paid role at a cruise line, and was dreading every single morning. His wife, Amber watched him change, realising something had to give.
So he handed in his notice. He had four weeks, a mortgage, and one clear passion: animals.
He discovered the Pets, Homes and Gardens franchise, launched PHG Southampton with Amber, and never looked back. His very first client was a Bengal cat called El. Monday blues, he says, became a thing of the past.
What followed were five-star reviews, a full diary, their son Oliver, and COVID arriving weeks after Oliver did. But they held on, and every client came back.
By 2025, Ritchie and Amber had taken on the entire PHG franchise. Today, they still walk dogs and care for pets in Southampton, whilst supporting animal lovers across the UK to build businesses of their own.
